About Our Department



     The Department of Prospective Information Technologies (DPIT) was established in September, 1997, on the basis of three divisions of the Institute, Laboratory of Data Processing (LDP), Laboratory of Ecological Resources (LER) and Sector of Prospective Investigations (SPI). Albert M. Molchanov, D. Sc. (Physics and Mathematics), Professor, was appointed to be the leader of the Department. He was also the director of the Institute at that time. Since October, 1998, the Department is headed by Mikhail N. Ustinin, D. Sc. (Physics and Mathematics).

     The Department is involved in working out of new information technologies and their usage in fundamental and applied scientific investigations. The main areas of scientific activity of the Department are: bio-informatics (the number of state registration is 01.99.0005540), mathematical modeling (the RAS research area number 5.30), working out of methods of acquisition, processing and analysis of digital images (the number of state registration of the research area is 01.99.0007323).
